It is necessary for the inner adult to choose to accept the child and connect with its inner truth. This provides the adult with guidance in eliminating false belief patterns and finding better beliefs to live by. When the inner child is accepted, such positive beliefs might include:

I am responsible for my own happiness.
I am ready to perceive and accept my feelings.
I am open to new things and changes in my life.
I am strong enough to take care of myself and to take responsibility for my well-being.
I am allowed to be curious and playful, silly and spontaneous, lively and sensitive.
But I am also allowed to be angry and sad, because through self-love I recognize that all feelings are important parts of myself.
By taking responsibility for oneself, a person becomes increasingly independent of the opinions and goodwill of others, which doesn't mean they no longer appreciate the affection of others. However, they recognize that they will not perish, either physically or mentally, if a life situation requires them to take care of their own well-being.

When a person is lovingly connected to their inner child, they experience life differently: They feel lovingly connected to people and to all of nature because they are connected to themselves. This inner connection is a great source of strength and a valuable resource.
